Ski vacation in Austria: luxury ski lodge in Leogang

Ski hut Austria

(AdvertisingEnd of Season: the sun is shining, it has 18 degrees and spring is in the air. Nevertheless, we still enjoy our skiing holiday in Austria in our cozy ski lodge to the fullest. The crowds are gone, the slopes are perfectly accessible by ski-in and out and the runs are still in good condition in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski area:

URig, comfort and welcome we feel in our small ski lodge not far from Leogang. There is a sauna and an open fireplace and endless snow right outside the front door for our kids to romp and sledges. And the end of March! Sleds are conveniently available for hire. The real powder luck on the boards is only about 500 meters above our house. But even without skis there is a lot to experience, not only in winter.

The ski hut

On a small cul-de-sac up the slope, this cozy holiday home with views of the surrounding mountains is located! There are a total of three houses that are arranged like a “T” and are located between the forest and other detached houses. Very idyllic. You can walk directly from the house, either to the nearest bakery or past fields.

Inside the rustic hut everything is clad in wood, the ceilings even with real old wood. I love the coziness that radiates the wood! You just have to be careful that you pull here and there no splinter, because everything is still so new. As soon as you enter, there is a small cloakroom and the first bedroom with a bunk bed. Perfect for the two boys at the age of six.

Living area on the ground floor:

At the end of the hall, the open living and dining area of the chalet extends. The kitchen is large and well equipped and the spacious corner seat also totally comfortable! The highlight is, of course, the fireplace with an open window, which is fed via digital display with pallets. A small wooden terrace with mountain views completes the feel-good experience.

Upper floor:

In the 1. Floor there are the two double bedrooms, a guest bathroom and a huge bathroom with two sinks, bath, rainforest shower and Sauna with a view in the snow. A wellness dream! For all three cottages there is a practical ski cellar where each of the parties has its own lockable compartment with boot dryer. What more do you want in a ski holiday!

Cost: Price per night from € 230,00 for two persons in winter and from € 159,00 for two persons in summer plus final cleaning and visitor's tax. On certain dates there are also special prices!

Ski holiday in Austria with Ski-In & Out

One of the largest ski areas in Austria with a total of over 200 kilometers of slopes can be found in the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm. The entrance to the Kralleralm with practice lift and of Stone Mountain Railway is only about 5 minutes walk up the mountain. Here you will find a small Alm to relax and a ski shop. Back then it goes on skis to a small way, just to the right of the Kralleralm almost to the front door of the ski lodge.

If you do not feel like running, you can also go by car in about 5 minutes directly to of Asitzbahn . go There is a large car park, a ski rental, a sports shop, a small SPAR supermarket and a lounge with mountain views. The Kinderland for the little ones is also right on the lift.

The ski area:

Once in the ski resort, there are countless downhills, tugs and chairlifts, and many blue slopes for the little ones. Not to mention the various rest stops! We like it best in the Stöcklalm. Here is the hustle and bustle not so big, no loud party music, the staff is fast and friendly and the prices very moderate.

The snow is not perfect at the end of March and very sultry in the afternoon, but not much is going on and the weather is a dream! If you still do not have enough, you can also go to 4km Saalfelden drive. There is the family ski area Hinterreit and the ski area Maria Alm. You can find more about this region in my article about mine Ski holiday in Austria in a design chalet in Saalfelden. Kitzbühel and the Pillerseetal are not far either ...

If you do not feel like skiing, you can try to luge in the nearby area. It's quite a bit of fun, but there are three trips with the lift included and you can enjoy the mountain panorama to the fullest.

It starts at the valley station of Asitzbahn. The ticket includes the ride to the middle station, tobogganing to Forsthofalm, then the 4 chairlift back to the middle station and at the end also the gondola down. Sounds complicated, it is somehow. Alternatively one can of the Asitzbahn also to Forsthofalm Take a little winter walk and take the 4er lift up from there.

The whole effort is well worth it, as you can enjoy the 4km long toboggan run with panoramic views! Even for small children without problems, our daughter has a lot of fun at the age of three. Attention: Children up to 12 years must wear a ski helmet, otherwise they are not allowed.

Cost: 20 € for adults and 8 € deposit for the sled. Children pay 6 € from 10 years.

Opening hours: daily from 13-16hour (with appropriate snow conditions)

In summer & off the slopes

Even in the summer bring one Asitzbahnen in Leogang in the mountains for hiking and mountain biking! There is a bike park about two kilometers away. The center of Leogang and an outdoor pool are just over a kilometer from the chalets. The three cottages are also an ideal starting point for hiking, biking and mountain biking with a start right outside the front door!

If you want something more action, you can also do that Flying Fox try out! The starting point for this 1.600 meter long steel cable chute is located at the middle station of the Asitzbahn. From there you can levitate into the valley and enjoy up to 130km / h. I think that's nothing for me ...

Cost: from € 69,00 for adults and € 49,00 for children from 10 years

You will find more information about operating times and prices of the Flying Fox here!

Have you ever spent your skiing holiday in Austria? Or are you better for hiking in the Spring in Austria or with kids!

Transparency: We were invited by the autumn family for two nights in the house. My personal opinion was not affected.
